DIGITAL LESSON MANAGER

A project for Cornelsen Publishing

Cornelsen Digitaler Unterrichtsmanager Demo Webview

Case

The Berlin-based educational publisher Cornelsen commissioned us to develop a software demo for digital lesson planning. The main challenge: a timeline of just eight weeks leading up to the didacta education fair.

Solution

Our team of experienced web developers made the impossible possible: Within two months, we developed a fully functional demo software for the didacta trade show.

MVP Development in a Short Timeframe

Despite the limited timeframe, we were able to develop a visually and functionally compelling application that was also capable of running offline, making it suitable for use at the trade show. The demo could thus not only be shown on stationary trade show computers and during presentations, but also distributed on USB drives to interested teachers as an effective promotional tool.

A prototype with all essential functions

The e-book toolbox psPDFkit, custom JavaScript, and webpack for component integration formed the technological foundation of our solution. The demo version already included 80% of all features found in the full version released later, including the important two-page book view, precisely positioned click points, and a filterable list of materials. We achieved maximum flexibility in creating various demo products for math, German, English, and other subjects by importing JSON data.

Flexible deployment of experts from our network

Our team embarked on this project with great energy and passion, armed with a long list of features on the client’s wish list. To tackle the technical and time-related challenges of the project, our project management team assembled a team of internal and external experts in web development and e-book production within a week.

Rapid prototyping for a photo finish at the finish line: Deploying the software at the didacta education fair

Using methods such as rapid prototyping, extreme programming, and design thinking, we were able to consistently focus on the essential features for marketing and sales at the fair and implement them up to four weeks before the fair began.

This was crucial to ensure the printing plant had sufficient time for production and packaging and to train the fair staff on the product. didacta is Germany’s largest education fair, most recently attracting around 35,000 visitors. It takes place annually at rotating locations.
