For new AI insights and prototyping, we worked on topics such as code generation, testing with the GitHub Copilot, web automation tools, design AI and meeting summaries in our first AI Focus Week 2024 in mid-February.
Work more efficiently and creatively with AI tools
For several years now, AI has been a recurring theme in our client projects and in our day-to-day work. It has already become an integral part of our lives, and its influence will only grow significantly in the future, particularly in software development.
According to a study by the IT market research firm IDC (IDC’s Worldwide Black Book 3rd Platform Edition, V2 2023), the AI market in Germany grew by 30% in 2023 to 6.3 billion euros, with approximately 85% of that amount accounted for by investments in AI-related software or services. Analysts expect the market volume to rise to over 8 billion euros in 2024.

And the practice?
In our day-to-day project work over the past three years, we have seen that relevant AI tools and content are becoming increasingly important and can deliver significant added value and efficiency gains for both products and processes. Reason enough, then, to analyze, research, and test the many topics right at the start of the new year as part of our first AI Focus Week 2024. The goal: to put the insights gained to profitable use in all existing and new projects and make our work even better.
Topics of the AI Focus Week 2024
Our goal is to create value for our clients through the strategic use of relevant AI and to make projects even more efficient. Here are a few examples:
Unit Testing
We used GitHub Copilot to write tests for Python and JavaScript code and to adapt existing tests following an upgrade from Vue 2 to Vue 3. While some adjustments to the test suggestions were necessary to achieve a very good test, the results were excellent and demonstrate that AI support for unit tests is indispensable moving forward. Language Chain & Language Models (LLM)
langChain is an open-source framework that helps develop applications using language models like ChatGPT. We explored how we could specifically integrate langChain into our projects and, within three days, built a prototype that converts our website’s content into vector data, making it analyzable by ChatGPT. The result was a fully functional chatbot.
Web Automation
AI-based web automation tools are software solutions that use artificial intelligence to automatically perform tasks on websites. These tools can handle a wide range of tasks, from data collection and form filling to automating browser actions and interacting with web applications. Our team evaluated the performance of several services and found that there are significant differences, particularly in terms of error tolerance.
Code Generation
AI-based code generation is transforming software development by automating coding tasks, improving developer productivity, and enabling innovative approaches to software creation. Tools such as GitHub Copilot, OpenAI’s Codex, or Google’s AlphaCode are examples of AI-based systems used in code generation that put these possibilities into practice. These technologies are still under development, but their potential to revolutionize the way software is developed is enormous.
